From Scratch
Or the "afternoon-project" that actually turned into a month-long one. Built after THIS tutorial, the construction itself was pretty easy but the consistency of the wood + poor cuts turned out to be major obstacles. Pretty much the only changes we made were using screws instead of finishing nails for the frames on both sides (for added stability)and painting most of the pieces before assembling the shelf to achieve a smoother finish.

And so it begins...
Best part of the day: Unpacking the "Schultuete", a paper cone stuffed with all kinds of goodies to sweeten up the first day of school.

Overlooked
Next time you pass by that clothing clearance rack at Walmart, you might want to stop and take a closer look. Don't worry, I'm not talking about actually wearing those XXL-nightmares. Think of them as fabulously cheap sewing material. Ruffle-Rose top for $3? Um, yes please!(Skirt found in the clearance section at Target and re-sized to fit a 4-year old. Cost: About $9.)
